A strong primary care system is fundamental to a strong and high-functioning health system. However, COVID-19 laid bare the vulnerability of our primary care system and exacerbated the health needs and access to care challenges for the communities it serves, especially the most vulnerable. Building upon our issue brief and open letter to Gov. Abbott, through this session, we illuminated the patient, provider, and systems-level impact of COVID-19 on our primary care needs and infrastructure.
